Role:  Security Officer (Estates Services Officer)

Location: Site-based - Your time will be spent across our 11-acre site on bustling Bristol Harbourside. Our estate includes a busy visitor attraction, underground car park, water features and roadways.

Working hours: Full time, 48 hours a week (average created from a 3-week repeated shift pattern, with opportunities for overtime)

About the role

You’ll be part of an Estates Services Team, working with a Shift Supervisor and other Officers. During your shifts you’ll monitor and patrol our 11-acre site, providing excellent customer service to visitors of Millennium Square Car Park, and all of our open spaces, as well as looking out for and reporting any suspicious incidents, dealing with vehicles on site and issuing parking enforcement tickets when needed, as well as providing first level fault-finding for our car park equipment.

From our Estates Services Control Room, you’ll monitor our CCTV and manage our fire alarm systems and access control software, and be a first point of contact for contractors and visitors to the site.

The Estates Services team-work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year covering the entire We the Curious site providing a secure, safe, and friendly environment for all visitors, staff and users of the open spaces.

The We The Curious site consists of the main building along with our open spaces and a 500 place 2-level subsurface car park, and tenanted buildings.

Our open spaces are private land but have no physical barriers, allowing full public access. We The Curious has the right to remove undesirable elements from the site. The open spaces have several artworks, statues and sculptures, together with large accessible water features.

What will you do in this role?

Role specific responsibilities

_Be part of an Estates Services Team, working with a Shift Supervisor and other officers.

_Monitor and Patrol our 11-acre site.

_Provide excellent customer service to visitors of Millennium Square Car Park, and all our open spaces.

_Look out for and report any suspicious incidents.

_Liaise with Emergency Services when required.

_Monitor and control access to our building using our access control software.

_Deal with parking and vehicle access on site.

_Provide first level fault-finding for our car park equipment.

_Monitor our CCTV system, and manage our fire alarm and intruder alarm systems.

_Deal with mail and couriered post in and out, and delivering around site.


What will you do in this role?

General responsibilities

_Work closely alongside the Estates Supervisor, Estates Maintenance, Estates Facilities and the Head of Estates. Looking out for maintenance and building issues (trip/slip hazards, damage, etc), acting when needed and reporting issues.

_Follow our safeguarding policies out in the open spaces and in the car park, as well as across the site, and raising any concerns to a designated Safeguarding Officer.

_Follow our guidelines and policies regarding compliance with GDPR.

_Support and collaborate with other departments and teams within the organisation, including working closely with Operations teams and providing assistance for projects.

_Attend meetings representing the Estates Services Team, and supporting the Estates Services Manager.

_Due to the responsibilities of this role, you will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.


What we're looking for from you

_You’ll have previous experience in a customer service role, and are passionate about providing great customer service.

_You’ll be able to take ownership and support others as part of a team.

_You’ll have a helpful and flexible attitude, especially when dealing with members of the public, and have an ability to remain calm under pressure.

_You’ll have previous experience in a role dealing with security, including mitigating risk, proactively watching for suspicious behaviour and investigating issues as the occur.

_You’ll have confidence in using computer-based systems (Microsoft Office, email, till software, etc).
